With this, we’d like to introduce Shoppable’s Product Content Specialist, Shikynah Bolivar!
Q: Tell us about yourself and what you do at Shoppable
A: Hi, everyone! My name is Shikynah, Shik for short. I work as a Product Content Specialist. We mainly create product listings and optimize them to reach the target customers.
Q: When you’re not working, what do you like to do?
A: Most of the time, I would like to spend it watching movies or series wearing my favorite pajamas. in addition, I love to spend my free time with my friends catching up and talking about life in general.
Q: What phrase or cliché do you live by?
A: “Que Sera, Sera.” whatever will be shall be.
Q: How would you describe your dream career? In addition, how does your work now influence your goals?
A: I have this specific interest in watching Korean dramas that evolve around attorneys, which leads to my dream career. It fascinates me whenever they are in court and represents their clients and how they are knowledgeable of the jurisdictions. Even though my dream job is far from my current job, it still influences my goal of being an attorney by acquiring new skills, knowledge, and expertise.
Q: What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
A: Whenever I ask my friends or someone I know what their first impressions of me they tend to say that I am ill-tempered, but the truth is I’m not. Because I have RBF or because of my Aries vibes (lols). Contrary to that, I am an approachable person. It’s just that I am shy to approach someone first.
Q: What’s a standard piece of advice you disagree with and why?
A: “When you quit, you fail” There are many factors that make the person quit. We cannot easily conclude that the person has failed already. If you know you compromised and did your best in the relationship or a certain situation, yet you still feel unappreciated, don’t worry; there will always be a place or a person who will value you and flourishes your full potential. Quitting doesn’t mean you are a failure. You know your worth and what you can serve on the table.
Q: What is your go-to drink or snack while working?
A: Having a mocha frappe with coffee, jelly, and calamari is my favorite! it gives me energy throughout the day, plus the chewiness texture of the calamari satisfies my appetite.
Q: If you were to be granted one superpower, what would it be? Why?
A: Since I was a kid, I’ve been amazed by the power of Wolverine, a fictional character from a comic book and a protagonist of the X-Men Film series. I like his superpower because you wouldn’t think that he has one! At first glance, people would just think of him as an ordinary person, but they wouldn’t know he has these Claws housed within his forearms, which are made of adamantium metal. Aside from his remarkable strength, he also has this accelerated healing ability that makes him an outstanding superhero.
Q: What do you consider most valuable in your job at Shoppable?
A: It has a positive work environment. As a fresh graduate, I have this fear of the expectation vs. reality situation. I have heard a lot of stories from my cousins, Titos and Titas, and friends who work already where they love the job that they are doing, but because of the environment, it stresses them out. Although I am new to the team, I can say that there is an atmosphere of respect, support, and collaboration with my colleagues and superiors, which fosters teamwork and personal well-being.
Q: What makes you passionate about work? Furthermore, tell us about the values that you consider most important.
A: My goals in life that make me passionate about my work. I want to achieve the things I set as much as I can. And for me to reach my goals, I’ll encounter different people with different backgrounds or values in life. I have to treat them the way I want to be treated, doing right and doing my best, which I believe is the most important value I consider.
Today, we heard about the insights that Shikynah has about work and everything in between.
