Q: Tell us about yourself and the work that you do.
A: Hello, I’m Jan, the Category Manager at Shoppable Business. My role involves strategizing, selecting products, managing suppliers and listing prices, analyzing vendor performance, and collaborating cross-functionally throughout the B2B procurement process. My role focuses on maximizing category profitability and driving growth.
Q: In your spare time, what do you like doing?
A: During my spare time, I enjoy playing computer games, basketball, listening to music, and sleeping 😂
Q: What is one field outside of your occupational expertise that you have always been interested in (e.g., Botany, Culinary, Law)? Tell us why you found this field interesting.
A: Engineering has always been my childhood dream, as I am captivated by the construction of bridges and buildings. And in addition to that, I am amazed when I see workers mixing cement 😂
Q: What is a comfort food or beverage that you’d like to share with others? Describe this comfort food or beverage to us.
A: Sinigang + Red Bull 😀. It just basically makes me feel alive and happy at the same time.
Q: Which of your work skills are you most proud of (e.g., Public Relations, Tech Skills)? Tell us about it.
A: Working under pressure and multitasking have been two areas I’ve consistently focused on and worked to improve since the beginning of my career.
Q: If you could go on an all-expense paid vacation to any place, where would you go and why?
A: While I don’t typically prioritize vacations if the opportunity arises, I would love to explore all the tourist spots within the Philippines before venturing to other countries.
Q: What do you like most about your role at Shoppable?
A: I appreciate the opportunity that my role at Shoppable provides to enhance my public relations skills. I also value how my position at Shoppable allows me to broaden my professional network.
Q: In no less than two sentences, describe the team you work with at Shoppable.
A: The purchasing team is more than just a group; it is a very close knit team. There is always mutual respect and trust among our members.
Q: If you were to choose among the seasons (summer, rainy, and cool), which would you prefer? Tell us why you’d pick this season over the others.
A: Cool, because I’m cool. Joke! It’s just that I find it challenging to deal with the heat during the summer season, and it becomes inconvenient to carry out tasks or go out during the rainy season. On the other hand, during the dry and cool season, I appreciate the ability to engage in various activities such as playing basketball, riding my motorbike, jogging, or going out with my loved ones.
Q: Share one of your favorite movies or songs that have helped you grow as a person. Tell us about this movie or song.
A: I guess none. No song or Movie helped me to where I am right now. It was me and the support and influence of my wife and family who really helped me become the person I am today.
