Before we can paint a picture of a successful startup, we must celebrate the hard work and talent of the people who make everything happen. It doesn’t take a lifetime to get to know someone; a simple conversation can give you enough information about how they are as team members and outside of work. Today, we’re delighted to introduce our Accounts Receivable officer, Jaja Real! Read about what she likes about her role at Shoppable and what she spends time on beyond the nine-to-five. Let’s take it away!
Q: Tell us about yourself and the work that you do.
A: Hi, I’m Janilyn Real! You can call me Jaja for short. I work in Shoppable as Account Receivable, handling billing and follow-ups of our customer payments.
Q: How would you describe a perfect day?
A: It’s a perfect day if my tummy is full. Hahahaha, Kidding aside, it will be a perfect day if I wake up on time and finish all my work without any hassle.
Q: What is one destination you’ve always wanted to visit (e.g., Maldives, Sahara Desert)? Tell us why you want to go there.
A: I want to visit the Maldives someday. The beach looks beautiful, and I want to witness the beauty of it with my own eyes.
Q: Among the movies or series you’ve seen so far, what is your favorite? What do you like about it?
A: I’m hooked on anime right now, So ONE PIECE it is 😀 What I liked about this anime series is it tackles all the issues in our society, like government corruption and how the government favored the rich people compared to the poor. Discrimination was also discussed in the series, along with other social issues.
Q: What is a dish you can make that you are proud of? Alternatively, if you don’t cook, what is one dish you’ve tried that you would recommend to a friend? Tell us about it.
A: I’m proud of my Sinigang fish or pork, name it! 😀 Let me cook for you and tell me about it. Charrrr!
Q: In the work that you do, what do you like most about it?
A: I liked that I could get to know more people and improve my communication skills.
Q: If you somehow win 10 million dollars, what would you do with that money?
A: If I have 10M dollars, I will probably build a business.
Q: How do you cope with challenges inside and outside of work? (e.g., Karaoke, Hiking, Ocean Clean-up).
A: Pre-pandemic, I’ll usually hang out with friends, drink some and go on vacation. It might be out of the country or out of town. Now, I’ll usually rewatch anime, particularly One Piece and Haikyu hehe!
Q: Describe the work environment you have at Shoppable.
A: Working with shoppable peeps; they’re Supportable and enjoyable to work with.
Q: Give a few words of wisdom to your past self, present self, and future self; that you’d like to share with others as well.
A: For My Past, Present, and Future Self – “Never ever doubt yourself.”
We sat down with our very own Accounts Receivable officer, Jaja Real, to learn more about how she spends her time in and out of work. Reading about someone’s interests and personality is a great way to get to know them. For Jaja, we’ve learned that she likes anime and cooks an impeccable dish called Sinigang, made with pork or chicken. She enjoys traveling and going on adventures that introduce her to different cultures and experiences. She’s one to make excellent use of her time by living every second to the fullest.
